Founder. Speaker. Coach. Community Builder. A woman who believes transformation begins when we decide there is something beyond where we are today.

Marsha D. Carter's story began in the deeply rooted community of South Minneapolis, shaped by creativity, compassion, resilience and an extraordinary desire to be of service to others.

An introvert by nature with an artist's spirit and a heart for people, Marsha discovered early that transformation doesn't always begin with a grand plan. Sometimes it begins with a beat, a room large enough to move in and the willingness to meet someone exactly where they are.

Her earliest work centered women.

Through music, dance and movement, Marsha created opportunities for women navigating life's challenges to reconnect with their bodies, strengthen their emotional and spiritual well-being and begin taking steps toward something better.

That work became Beyond the Dance Network.

But the meaning of Beyond was always larger than dance.

One warm meal shared with someone in need became another act of service. Clothing for a handful of people became resources for families. Movement became empowerment. Empowerment became community. And an idea rooted in helping women heal and move forward eventually grew into an expanding ecosystem of service.

Today, that journey includes the community work Marsha founded through Beyond New Distribution (BND), providing food, clothing, household goods, furnishings, and other resources to people navigating homelessness, housing instability, reentry, and economic hardship.

The Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder profiled Marsha's work in 2025, describing the distribution center as a community resource helping people transition from homelessness toward stability. In the interview, Marsha described a philosophy that remains central to her work: meeting people where they are and removing unnecessary barriers to receiving support. 

Going Beyond Now brings Marsha back to where so much of this journey began: people, movement, healing, and transformation.

Through speaking engagements, individual and group coaching, workshops and transformational experiences, Marsha shares the lessons gathered along her own road while creating space for women to discover what may be waiting along theirs.

Because Beyond was never simply the name of an organization.

It is a way of moving through the world.
